This is the home page of PopApostle's exploration of Galactica 1980. This will include studies of the original TV series, the Galactica Discovers Earth novelization of the pilot episode, and the re-imagined comic book mini-series published by Dynamite Entertainment in 2009.

What can be said about Galactica 1980 that has not already been better said by more bitter men than I? Suffice it to say the show was atrocious and I include studies of the episodes only out of a misguided sense of completeness in covering every BSG-related story I can find. The journey was truly painful, so I hope PopApostle's fans appreciate it and the torment I endured. John Kenneth Muir probably best summed up Galactica 1980 in his 1999 book An Analytical Guide To Television's Battlestar Galactica: "...the show is as universally despised today as it was two decades ago." Now make that three decades and change.

I do not consider either the TV series or the comic book mini-series reboot to be part of the "mainstream" Battlestar Galactica chronology, due to various discrepancies and idiocies contained within each, which are pointed out in the following studies.
